I am an academic in the Applied Optics Group, in Physics & Astronomy at the University of Kent. We are in Canterbury in the South East corner of England, about an hour on the train from London. It's quite nice, and I recommend a visit.
As well as research I also teach courses on the various physics and astronomy undergraduate degree programmes at Kent.
